About Balanced Tree Care

Balanced Tree Care is an arboriculture company specialising in tree management, habitat creation and practical biodiversity outcomes.

We work with councils, schools, environmental organisations, ecologists, contractors and land managers to create safer landscapes while retaining and improving the ecological value of trees.

Our approach is simple: manage risk responsibly, retain habitat wherever practical, and look for opportunities to leave a site with greater ecological value.

People. Trees. In Balance.

Trees are living infrastructure.

They provide shade, habitat, landscape character and ecological value, but they also exist alongside people, buildings, roads, schools and public spaces where they need to be actively managed.

Balanced Tree Care was built around finding that balance.

Rather than approaching arboriculture as simply pruning or removing trees, we look at how trees can be safely managed throughout their lifecycle — from establishment and maintenance through to risk reduction, habitat retention and, where appropriate, conversion into habitat trees.

It is an approach that combines practical arboriculture with a strong understanding of the environments in which we work.

Ecological Arboriculture

Our work increasingly sits at the intersection of arboriculture, habitat management and biodiversity conservation.

Through specialist habitat projects, we create and retain habitat features for hollow-dependent Australian wildlife using techniques including carved tree hollows, habitat tree conversion, nest boxes and the retention or relocation of naturally occurring habitat.

Using specialist equipment including the HollowHog, we can create purpose-built habitat within suitable trees, providing habitat opportunities now while natural hollows can take generations to develop.

Where projects require ecological expertise, we work alongside ecologists, environmental consultants and project teams to translate ecological objectives into practical tree-based habitat outcomes.

Tree Management for Complex Environments

Good tree management isn't just about individual trees. It's about understanding how trees interact with the people and places around them.

We provide practical arboricultural services for schools, government assets, public spaces, environmental projects and private properties.

Our work ranges from scheduled tree maintenance and hazard reduction through to specialist climbing, habitat retention and complex tree works.

Regardless of the project, our objective remains the same: achieve the required safety and operational outcome while retaining as much value in the landscape as reasonably possible.

Built in Newcastle. Working Across NSW.

Balanced Tree Care was established in Newcastle and continues to provide tree management services throughout Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Our specialist habitat and ecological arboriculture work takes us considerably further.

We undertake projects across the state working alongside councils, ecologists, environmental organisations and project teams.

This combination gives us the capability to remain a small, hands-on specialist business while contributing to larger environmental and infrastructure projects.

A Small Team with Specialist Capability

We believe being a small business is one of our strengths.

The people planning our projects are also involved in delivering them.

That means greater accountability, consistent workmanship and direct communication between our clients and the arborists undertaking the work.

We continue to invest in specialist equipment, training, systems and ecological arboriculture techniques that allow us to take on increasingly complex tree and habitat projects while maintaining that hands-on approach.

Better Outcomes for People, Trees and Wildlife

The future of arboriculture isn't simply about removing trees when they become difficult to manage.

It's about understanding their value, managing risk intelligently and recognising opportunities to retain habitat within the landscapes we share.

That's the direction we're building Balanced Tree Care around:

Safer landscapes. Better biodiversity outcomes.
